Parker String Quartet

Parker String Quartet Daniel Chong , violin, Karen Kim, violin Jessica Bodner, viola, Kee-Hyun Kim, cello Winner, 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition Winner, 2005 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition

The New York Times calls the Parker String Quartet, winner of the 2005 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, “something extraordinary.” The Boston Globe hails its “fiercely committed performances,” and The Washington Post declares it “a quartet that deserves close attention.” Only three months after its win at the CAG Competition, the Quartet captured First Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition, enhancing its international reputation.

Current career highlights include: Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series; the Wolf Trap Discovery Series; Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series; Mostly Mozart Festival; Boston’s Jordan Hall and Gardner Museum; California’s Philharmonic Center of Orange County and UCLA’s Clark Memorial Library; and New York’s Merkin Concert Hall and Schneider Concerts. Internationally, the Parker Quartet tours Australia in 2008 (collaborating with pianist Kathryn Selby), and the group also tours Europe frequently in connection with its victory at the Bordeaux Competition : Festival de Radio France in Montpellier and Flanders Festival.

Equally at home in a famous concert hall or a downtown club, Time Out NY, The Boston Globe and Chamber Music Magazine have all featured the Parker Quartet’s efforts to bring its music to new ears, performing in bars & clubs nationwide through CAG’s New Music/New Places initiative.

The Parker String Quartet was selected for the prestigious Professional String Quartet Training Program at the New England Conservatory of Music, where the group was founded and where all its members are completing graduate degrees.
