Jean-Pierre
NICOLAS, along with Michèle Dévérité,
is one of the founders of the Ensemble Fitzwillim. He appears frequently
with Le Concert Spirituel and Les Arts Florissants. He also concertizes
with Le Concert Des Nations, Lensemble Baroque de Limoges, Il Seminario
Musicale, A sei Voci, La Simphonie Du Marais and La grande Ecurie. He
has played world-wide with these groups, and has participated in thirty
recordings. He has taken part in world premiere performances of contemporary
works by Holliger, Tosi and Mâche with Musique Vivante, 2E2M and
Jeunes Solistes. He currently teaches in the early music department in
Orsay, as well as in various international academies. The Ensemble Fitzwilliam, founded fifteen years ago by Michèle Dévérité and Jean-Pierre Nicolas, consists of a harpsichordist, a recorder player, and a cello(played by Bruno Cocset). The group also invites solo singers, actors and instrumentalists to partcipate in its productions when programmes requires them. The groups repertoire covers music of the French, German and English baroque, with a special predilection for seventeenth-century Italian music. The musicians of the Ensemble Fitwilliam regularly take part in the activities of major European ensembles. The group has performed in leading musical centers, in concert and in radio recordings. They are preparing an unusual programme based on the five senses in Italy, whose premiere will take place in March, 2003. The Ensemble Fitzwilliam recently returned to the recording studio with Zig-Zag Territoires. The group had previously recorded five CDs for Astrée-Auvidis (Naïve); these were dedicated to the music of Merula and Falconieri (world premiere recordings), Frescobaldi, Marin Marais and Telemann. Josep Benet, Josep Cabre, Paul Dombrecht, Enrico Gatti, Pascal Monteilhet, and Jean Tubéry, among others, participated in the groups recordings. The city of Amilly (Loiret region) underwrites their activities. |
